I started seeing Allen Berger in the late 1990’s while I was in high school. I’d been experiencing piercing chest pains for some amount of time which my physician thought were the result of my having some inflamed cartilage in my rib cage. To cure the problem that he thought I had, he put me on a daily regimen of ibuprofen for about a month; the chest pains persisted, but thanks to the ibuprofen my stomach began aching constantly. I went to see a gastroenterologist who first diagnosed me with both acid reflux and a number of stomach ulcers, then put me on Prilosec for my reflux and a number of other drugs to get rid of my ulcers. Surprisingly to me at the time, the Prilosec did nothing for my reflux, and the ulcer medication only made my stomach condition worse.
On a wing and a prayer, my mother contacted an old friend of hers who she had heard was running a chiropractic office in Denver, this, as you may have already guessed, was Dr. Allen Berger. During my first visit to Dr. Berger’s office he administered a number of traditional chiropractic methods to relieve me of a number of problems which I was unaware I had been dealing with (namely a slightly curved spine). Not only did his adjustments at that time make me feel markedly better, but after seeing him for no more than 2 weeks my ulcers were completely gone and my reflux was no longer a problem.
In the years since then I have slowly but surely come to count on Dr. Berger for an increasingly wider range of my varied medical problems. Since my initial visit, which occurred some 7 years ago, Dr. Berger has aided me greatly in recovering from chronic headaches, a severely sprained ankle, a second batch of ulcers, various liver issues (mind you I was in college at CU for most of the years that I have seen Allen), a severe and remarkably persistent head injury, as well as numerous problems which arose from my taking a cycle of Accutane to clear up my skin. On top of all of this, Allen foresaw that I was developing an anxiety disorder months before my emotional state reached a point in which traditional doctors were willing to admit that I indeed had a definite emotional problem. It is within the last three issues which I have mentioned; my concussion, Accutane problems, and anxiety disorder, that Allen has done by far his most remarkable work. His laser therapy, acupuncture techniques, and understanding of Matrix Repatterning have been nothing sort of essential in my recovery from these varied issues, and that’s really the most superb element of Allen’s care: It’s always changing.
Unlike many alternative caregivers who take one discipline (be it chiropractic, acupuncture, or otherwise) and view it as a cure-all for any issue related to human health, Allen is always eager to explore and eventually master new, cutting edge, methods to better treat his patients. I truly am quite frightened to imagine the dire straits which I’d currently find myself in had my mother not referred me to Dr. Berger all of those years ago. I am absolutely indebted to the man for the assistance which he has provided to me, but don’t ask him if that’s the case, there’s no way he would admit it.
