Recent interviews with Allen

Allen Berger, DC has been practicing state-of-the-art alternative medicine in Denver since 1980. A lifelong learner, he has systematically pursued, learned, and incorporated the most advanced natural healing methods available, as patients with increasingly difficult and complex conditions sought him out for help. Patients from all over consult with him, often after trying multiple other health approaches without success. Dr Berger is one of the few practitioners in the world of Matrix Repatterning, a revolutionary and phenomenally effective new method of manual medicine. He also practices Applied Kinesiology, Functional Medicine, Clinical Nutrition, Acupuncture, Frequency Specific Microcurrent, Laser Neuromodulation, NET, and other cutting-edge techniques. His work is applicable to all ages.

I had constant upper respiratory problems as a child. I was always sneezing and coughing, hacking and spewing, weeping and blinking and sniffling. I had colds all of the time, and pneumonia when I was in the second grade. When I was about eight years old my parents took me to an allergist, who tested me for allergies by injecting me with hundreds of syringes full of suspected antigens. He concluded that I was allergic to all green plants, all animal dander, and all dust and mold. In short, I was allergic to everything alive. We couldn’t have any pets, and I wasn’t supposed to be outside when my allergies were bad. For the next ten years I got eight injections a week to desensitize me, and I took ever-increasing doses of antihistamine medications, which made me drowsy, but I still had my debilitating allergies.

When I got ready to go to college I ordered a thousand antihistamine pills to last me until I came home. It turned out that the pharmacist got the pills in bottles of a hundred, and instead of transferring them to a huge prescription bottle labeled with only my name and dosage and the doctor’s name, he gave me the ten original bottles. Because of this, I got to read the label for the first time. (In those days it was unheard of for patients to see the prescribing information for drugs, and there was no internet.) What I read made me upset.

On only half of the dose I had taken all through puberty, you weren’t supposed to operate motor vehicles. I called my doctor and voiced my concerns to him about this. He answered “who’s the doctor, me or you?” I told him “neither one of us; you’re fired!”

This left me with a problem. I still had my allergies, which were basically unchanged after ten years of treatment, but I no longer had a doctor to take care of me. I was dependent on antihistamine horse-pills, but I only had a thousand, and I took at least three a day. I realized that “if it is to be, it is up to me,” and I began a search to find my own treatment. I discovered that if I modified my diet, all my symptoms went away. It was incredible. That discovery led me to the work I do today, and still inspires me.

I tried to learn as much as I could about nutrition and health. In the early 1970’s I helped found a natural foods cooperative. I kept learning about various ways to naturally approach health and health care, and ultimately enrolled in chiropractic school to formally study, and to enable me to have a professional practice in which I could help others with health problems that medical care couldn’t solve.

Patients kept coming in to see me with more and more difficult problems I couldn’t help them with, so I had to keep learning new skills. Over the years I have become proficient in many diverse healing techniques. Because I felt I needed to do more for my patients than just provide manual therapy, I became certified in acupuncture, and took training in many different aspects of clinical nutrition. When I realized the impact of emotions on health I learned to practice NET, the most effective form of psycho-emotional change work I know of. Seeking the most advanced and effective natural therapies available, I added the technological advances of low level laser and microcurrent electrostimulation therapy to my practice. When I discovered it, I became one of only a handful of practitioners in the world certified in the cutting-edge healing methods of Matrix Repatterning, which I believe to be the most advanced physical medicine on the planet.

I continue to strive to incorporate the most progressive, effective, and enlightened healing modalities available into my practice. I take great satisfaction in having been able to help many people with difficult, complex, chronic conditions, people who had previously received only minimal benefits from standard care, and who had given up hope.
